Newark, the tourism capitol of the Tri-City Area
During the height of the dot-com boom, Fremont was the tourist capital. Its hotel tax generated $4.2 million in 2001, compared to $2.5 for Newark and $824000 for Union City, known in motel circles as Oakland South.
